The garden floor was initially a series of detached tall, narrow rooms with a closed-up staircase linking the floors. The spaces were opened-up, the staircase restored, and bedrooms and bathrooms finished with bespoke fittings. We provided instructions to the many skilled craftsmen: stonemasons and restorers, precise metal workers, muralists, lighting consultants, and furniture makers.
The architectural details were carefully considered to create a series of elegant spaces rather than a long corridor. The use of large scale architraves and skirting, wide floor boards, antiqued mirrored alcoves, applied wall panels, and a layered lighting design created a backdrop for a seamless Bulthaup kitchen and a bespoke concrete topped dining table to sit elegantly within.
