Pleydell Avenue, Chiswick
Pleydell Avenue is a ground floor flat which was transformed within the existing constraints of existing rooms and a realistic budget. For the client we undertook a series of interior studies to introduce as much wall storage as possible without taking over the rooms. The client wanted a home for she and her young daughters that would be a contemporary, serene and flowing space without tearing down walls or adding to the existing footprint. Covering walls and cupboards in a clean lined timber cladding created a continuity in the bedrooms and hallway . Floor boards were painted a grey white to follow this linear pattern. Warm indirect lighting, glazed doorways and a simple pallet of colors and materials expands the sense of space in the flat. The rear french doors were replaced with taller folding sliding doors connecting the insde to the simple decking and garden beyond.
Clifton Gardens , Maida Vale
Clifton Gardens is a terrace of late Regency stucco houses with a beautiful communal garden. This maisonette of raised and lower ground floors was initially a series of tall, cold , narrow rooms. A complete refurbishment to a high specification was undertaken . The result is a stunning family home. At raised ground a boutique hotel feel master bedroom and ensuite with bespoke fittings. The lower ground was opened up and the original butchered staircase completely restored and opened up to become a study area opening onto the dining and kitchen. To widen the space interior details played a large part of the design these included: large scale architraves, skirting, wide floor boards, antiqued mirrored alcoves, applied rail creating large wall panels, and a layered lighting design. The seamless Bulthaup kitchen and bespoke concrete topped dining table sit elegantly in the period architecture.
